“In 2008, Meraj from Mahim, Mumbai, was only eight years old when his father passed away tragically. A year later, he lost his mother, leaving him and his siblings, Shadab 6 years and Masooda 5 years, alone in the world. It was a heart-wrenching experience for these three kids to live without their parents or any immediate family members. But, Y&M Anjuman Khairul Islam came to their rescue and became their guardian, affectionately taking control of their family.
Meraj remembers how other students in the orphanage would go home during the summer and Diwali holidays to be with their mothers and extended family members. Unfortunately, he and his siblings didn't have anyone to go home to. But, one of their teachers, Ziauddin Sir, took them with him to his home during the vacations.
Today, Meraj is married and working as a manager at Bajaj Finance, while his brother Shadab is working in a CT Scan Manufacturing company. Sadly, their sister Masooda couldn't survive the brain tumour and recently passed away, despite the financial and medical support provided by AKI.”

In 2012, Mariyam Tabey Ali Shaikh was 5 years old. Her parents left her in AKI Orphanage. She never thought that her step in AKI’s Orphanage will bring a radical change in her life. She grew up in Mahabaleshwar Orphanage and completed her SSC in Mahabaleshwar School. During her studies she received many awards. Then she took admission in Nursing Institution of AKI. Now, she is a general nurse in Reliance Foundation hospital. Her parents feel proud of her work as she is the sole bread earning member in her family. She proudly says AKI is blessing for me.

“Suhail Bhikan Patel, Junnar, Pune was 8 years old when he lost vision of his one eye. He could not continue education in his native place therefore, his parents admitted him in Panhalje boarding school in std. Vth. He passed SSC and then HSC from our school, later took admission in GNM Nursing Course in Nagpur. His life has changed when he joined a hospital in Pune. At present he is specialised Orthopaedic Operation Theatre Assistant. He proudly said, “ AKI is our guardian and played an important role in changing my life and my whole family is very thankful to them.” Since 96 years, Y&M AKI has been the guardian of millions of families like Meraj's, Shadab's, and Masooda's and Sohail. Every year, Y&M AKI takes care of many orphans and destitute children in India, providing them with love, care, and support.”
